Infrared

The other day I bought my first ever Topshop lipstick! Yes, I'm really late but t's only taken me so long because I had a bad experience with Topshop's  liquid eyeliner pen last year and was deterred from buying any more of their make up.

Since taking an interest in the blogging world, I have come across a fairly large amount of very positive reviews on Topshop make-up (none on that eyeliner though), in particular their lipsticks. I saw Zoella's review on them and there was one shade that she highlighted in particular. Also, I was watching one of her YouTube videos and noticed that the colour on her lips looked really pretty. What do you know, it was the same lipstick she'd mentioned on her blog and - seeing how nice it looked - a sudden urge to run to Topshop and grab one for myself came over me.

If you haven't guessed already, the shade was the infamous Infrared.

Now, I'm not really a big lipstick person, and on the rare occasion that I do wear it I usually go for very safe options. I'm never usually brave enough to wear bright, bold statement colours outside the comfort of my own bedroom. Infrared is the complete opposite of what I'd usually go for; it's loud and eye-catching and bright orange, yet for some reason I love it! I've never been much of an orange fan, but of late it's really grown on me.

Infrared is an orange red with a 'velvet' finish, which means that it's very matte on the lips, but not drying at all. I have quite dry lips and a few people have said that it accentuates/clings to flaky bits but this wasn't the case for me at all. I love the formula. It's incredibly pigmented, a little goes a long way and it lasts so well, but it does stain. I swatched it before I bought it and the mark stayed visible on my hand all day! However, applying a bit of lip balm before you put it on does minimise this. There's definitely no complaints with the £8 retail price, since the quality is so good!

I'm so so glad that I bought this. It was out of stock in every single Topshop near me apart from one, which was  incidentally the store I usually shop in and there was also only one left, so I was pretty lucky to get it on the day. The photos below seriously do not do it justice.

Also, Topshop make-up packaging is so cute, I love it.

What are your thoughts on Topshop make-up? And I'd love some lipstick recommendations - thinking I need to widen my collection...
